"USE OF TECHNOLOGY IN THE TEACHING OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE"

In the age in which we live, technology is influencing the lives of human beings in an accelerated way; Present in all fields, it is a tool that facilitates processes in all the axes of knowledge, allows planning, directing, executing and controlling in an organized way and, of course, the area of ​​education cannot be alien to this type of progress and tools. Currently technology is part of our lives. Everywhere we can see technology, but it is an essential tool that we often do not use correctly. Technology is defined as a science or knowledge for solving problems in a lot of fields of everyday life, from entertainment to work, but a very important field to implement technology in the life of a human is in Education.

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

1.  ANTECEDENTS:

History of technological development to meet the learning needs of a foreign language.

Historically, the first language and computer connection was established when the second was born. This connection becomes the beginning of a technological development to meet new needs.  Automatic translators are started to be created to the detriment of the professional translator of dictionaries and parallel documents. Linguists and computer scientists try side by side to create the miracle machine that offers quality translations.

Finally, the use of the Internet to access any teaching resource is incorporated in just one click. Teachers and students immerse themselves in a world of constant evolution and technological development adapted to languages.

2. JUSTIFICATION:

Technology is a useful and important tool that facilitates and improves students' skills. The use of this allows a meaningful interaction between the teacher and the students. The technological resources available in some schools may be few and limited, but if we make use of them, we will be making a big change to improve our educational task of teaching the English language to students. This research will also help to raise awareness that the use of technology, in the teaching learning of English Language is more productive.

3. RESEARCH ACHIEVEMENTS

The research carried out will cover the interest of teachers to raise the need for the use of technology in teaching the English language.

The research will cover technological educational factors of the Middle School Parracaná, Cantel, Quetzaltenango.

4. LIMITS OF RESEARCH

One of the main limits is the low-quality education offered by the Government of Guatemala, since many schools require a lot of educational resources.

Does the use of technology help the teaching learning of English Language?

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

Today's society is constantly changing due to different factors that directly affect all areas of economic, political and educational development, a tangent proof of this is globalization, which is the process by which the increasing communication and interdependence between the different countries of the world unify markets, societies and cultures, through a series of social, economic and political transformations that give them a global character (Álvarez 2007) such radical changes in social development such as improvement in the media and the scientific and technological advances coming from it have shaped what is known today as the "new information age".

One of the greatest contributions of educational technology is the use of the Internet within the educational process, as there is no doubt that it is increasing in today's society. It can be considered the most modern technology of the 20th century, by promoting a constant and immediate exchange of information throughout the world. This technological advance has generated a new vision of society, since thanks to this medium the student can obtain information from anywhere in the world and in turn maintain possible communication with the people who publish said information. Therefore it can be considered a research tool.

METHOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK

General Objective:

Determinate the importance of the use of technology, when teaching English as a Second Language to students from Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Grade

Specific Objective:

Create tools to determine the influence of technology on the English Language teaching.

Hypothesis:

Technology is a tool that facilitates processes in all axes of knowledge, allows to plan, direct, execute and control in an organized way.

Sampling:

Universe: Middle School,  Cooperativa Parracana Cantel, Municipio de Quetzaltenango, Departamento de Quetzaltenango.

SURVEY

GENERAL GRAPH STUDENTS

Of 120 students surveyed, 32% said they would not like to use the technology in the process of teaching and learning English, and 68% would like the technology to be implemented in the teaching and learning process of a new language (English).

 

OPERATIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE FRAMEWORK

CONCLUSIONS

The use of technology in the teaching-learning process of the English language is important to achieve that the student develops critical thinking and gets access to learning materials.

RECOMMENDATIONS

It is essential that the students have access to technological tools for the learning of a second language (English), so in this way the student can develop critical thinking.
